17.4 Creating & Customising Social Posts

Reveela allows you to create social media posts across multiple connected accounts and tailor your content for each platform from one place.

Creating Posts

Before creating a post, make sure the social media accounts you want to post to are connected to Reveela via Manage Accounts and that any Brand Groups you want to use have been set up.

To create a post:

  • Select Socials from your dashboard.
  • You will be directed to the Create Post section.

Before writing your content, select the social media accounts or Brand Groups you want to create posts for.

To select social media accounts or brand groups:

  • Select the dropdown under Select Accounts.
  • Choose the connected social media accounts or Brand Groups you want to create posts for.
  • Select Save.

Please note that you can only select one Twitter/X account at a time, as sharing the same post across multiple X accounts can trigger errors.

Writing & Customising Posts

You can begin creating your content using the main Draft post box. This allows you to create a single message to use across all your selected platforms or establish the basic structure of your posts before tailoring them individually.

Each selected social platform also has its own tab. Selecting a platform tab opens a dedicated post box where you can customise the content specifically for that platform.

To write and tailor your social media posts:

  • Type your content into the Draft post box.
  • To customise the content for a particular platform, select the relevant social platform tab.
  • Make any platform-specific changes to your text, media, hashtags or other content as required.

If you make changes within an individual platform's post box, the main Draft post box will be deactivated. You can then continue editing your posts individually using the platform tabs.

Social Post Previews

Once you have selected your accounts, Reveela's post preview window allows you to see a preview of the social posts you're creating.

The previews update as you add and customise your content and media. You can move between your selected platforms to see how each post may appear when published.

Please note that these previews are approximate. Social platforms can make changes to how content is displayed, which may affect the final appearance of your published posts.

Character Limits

Your posts must comply with the character limits set by each social platform.

Reveela's editor helps you monitor the length of your posts. If you exceed the character limit for a platform, the excess characters will be highlighted in red within the relevant post box.

The current character limits supported by Reveela are:

  • Twitter/X - 280 characters.
  • LinkedIn - 3,000 characters.
  • Facebook - 63,206 characters.
  • Instagram - 2,200 characters.
  • Bluesky - 300 characters.
  • Threads - 500 characters.

Adding Mentions

Reveela lets you add mentions to reference relevant accounts and pages within your posts.

To add mentions to your posts:

  • Go to the post box you want to add the mention to, either within the Draft tab or an individual social platform tab.
  • Type "@" followed by the exact handle of the account or page you want to mention.
  • Select the appropriate account or page from the list, and the mention will be highlighted in orange within your post.

Please note:

  • You are unable to add mentions to Instagram posts due to platform limitations.
  • On Facebook and LinkedIn, you can only mention pages—not individual user profiles.

Adding Hashtags

You can add hashtags to your posts to help categorise your content and improve its discoverability on relevant social platforms.

To add hashtags to your posts:

  • Go to the post box you want to add the hashtag to, either within the Draft tab or an individual social platform tab.
  • Type # followed by the word or phrase you want to use as a hashtag.
  • The hashtag will be highlighted in orange within your post.

Adding Media

You can add media to your social posts when creating and customising your content. Media can be added to your main Draft or tailored for individual social platforms.

Reveela provides several options for adding and creating media, including uploading your own files and using Reveela's integrated media and image creation tools.

Post Validation Messages

As you create and customise your posts, Reveela displays validation messages to help make sure your content meets the requirements of each selected social platform.

Some messages will flag an issue that needs to be fixed before your post can be published or scheduled. For example, you may see a message if:

  • Your post exceeds a platform's character limit.
  • An image or other media is required.
  • An image or video doesn't meet the platform's requirements.
  • Another part of your post needs to be changed to meet the platform's requirements.

You may also see helpful messages and recommendations that provide advice about your content but don't prevent you from publishing or scheduling your post.

If a validation message identifies something that needs to be fixed, make the required changes before continuing.

What Next?

Once you've created and customised your posts and added any media, you can choose what you want to do with your content next.

You can:

  • Post Now – publish your content to your selected social media accounts immediately.
  • Schedule – choose a date and time for your content to be published.
  • Save to the Planner – save your content to work on or plan for later.
