17.9 The Social Media Planner

The Planner gives you one central place to organise, manage and schedule your social media content. It makes it easy to manage multiple posts and campaigns, including editing content, scheduling in bulk and sending posts for approval.

Content created or saved across Reveela can be added to the Planner, including draft posts, content created from ideas or trending news, and posts generated as part of a content plan.

Accessing the Planner

To access the Planner:

  • Select Socials from your dashboard.
  • You will be directed to the Create Post section.
  • Select Planner.

Each row in the Planner represents a piece of social media content and shows useful information including its status, selected accounts, source, content preview, media, schedule dates and when it was created.

You can use the filters within the Planner to find content based on different information, or use the search box to search your Content Preview and quickly find specific posts.

Understanding Planner Statuses

The Status column shows whether your content still needs work or is ready to be published or scheduled.

  • Draft means the content is still being worked on. You can continue editing and preparing the post before marking it as Ready.
  • Issues means Reveela has identified something that needs to be resolved before the post can be marked as Ready. This could include issues with media, character limits or other requirements for the selected social platforms.
  • Ready means you have confirmed that the post is complete and ready to be published or scheduled.

Please note: A post must have no outstanding Issues before it can be marked as Ready. Marking a post as Ready does not publish or schedule it. It confirms that the content is complete and allows you to move on to publishing or scheduling it from the Planner.

Editing and Preparing your Content

You can continue working on content directly from the Planner before marking it as Ready.

The Content Preview column shows a preview of your post. Select the edit icon to open the post, where you can customise the content for your selected social media platforms.

Depending on how content was added to the Planner, you may also see information in other columns to help you prepare your post:

  • Accounts shows the social media accounts selected for the content.
  • Source shows where the content came from, such as an idea, Newsjacking or a campaign. You can edit the Source where required.
  • Ideas shows the original idea added from Brainstorm Ideas and allows you to generate posts from it.
  • Content Direction can contain useful supporting information such as a content brief, creative direction, notes or links associated with the content.

Adding Media from the Planner

The Media column allows you to quickly add media to your content without opening the full post editor.

Select Add Media to add a publicly accessible image or video URL to the post.

You can also open the post using the edit icon to access Reveela's other media options.

For more information, see Adding Media to Social Posts.

Setting Schedule Dates

The Set Schedule column allows you to choose one or more dates and times when you would like your content to be published.

Adding a date here does not schedule the post immediately. It adds the publishing date and time to the content ready for when you choose to schedule it.

You can add multiple schedule dates to the same content where required.

Marking Posts as Ready

Once you have finished preparing a post and any issues have been resolved, you can mark it as Ready.

To mark a post as Ready:

  • Find the post you want to mark as Ready.
  • Select the ellipsis (...) at the end of the row.
  • Select Mark as Ready.
  • The Status will change to Ready.

If Reveela identifies any issues with the post, these will need to be resolved before you can mark it as Ready.

Once a post is Ready, the appropriate publishing or scheduling option will become available in the Action column.

Posting or Scheduling from the Planner

When your content has been marked as Ready, you can publish or schedule it directly from the Planner.

The option shown in the Action column depends on whether you have added schedule dates to the post:

  • Post – publish the content immediately if no schedule dates have been added.
  • Schedule – schedule the content using the date or dates you have added.

This means marking a post as Ready and publishing or scheduling it are two separate steps.

Managing Individual Planner Posts

The ellipsis (...) at the end of each row gives you additional options for managing your content.

Depending on the status of the post, you can:

  • Mark as Ready – confirm that the post is complete. Any issues must be resolved first.
  • Duplicate – create a copy of the entire Planner row.
  • Delete – remove the content from the Planner.

Managing Multiple Posts

You can use the checkboxes on the left of the Planner to select and manage multiple posts at the same time.

Once you have selected your posts, bulk actions allow you to:

  • Delete selected posts.
  • Duplicate selected posts.
  • Mark as Ready when the selected posts have no outstanding issues.
  • Send for Approval to send content to a client for review.
  • Mark as Approved to mark as approved following client review.
  • Post/Schedule content that is Ready.
  • Set Source to change the Source for selected content or add a new Source.

This can be useful when organising and managing larger groups of content or campaigns.

Sending Posts for Approval

You can use the Planner to send selected content to a client for review and approval before it is published or scheduled.

To send posts for approval:

  • Use the checkboxes to select the posts you want to send.
  • Select Send for Approval.
  • Reveela will automatically download a spreadsheet containing the selected content and open a pre-filled email.
  • Attach the downloaded spreadsheet to the email and send it to your client.
  • Ask the client to review the content and use the Approve, Amend and Comments columns in the spreadsheet to provide their feedback.
  • Once you receive approval, select the relevant posts in the Planner and select Mark as Approved.

When content has been sent for approval, an egg timer will appear in the status column. Once it has been marked as approved, a green tick will appear.

Bulk Uploading Content

The Bulk Upload option allows you to add multiple social media posts to the Planner at once using Reveela's import template.

To bulk upload content:

  • Select Bulk Upload from the Planner.
  • Download the Reveela import template.
  • Open the Instructions tab and follow the guidance provided.
  • Go to the Template tab and add your social media content to the relevant columns.
  • Add either a Brand Group or individual connected accounts for each row, along with the content you want to publish to each platform.
  • Add schedule dates and publicly accessible media URLs where required.
  • Save the completed template.
  • Return to Bulk Upload in Reveela and upload your completed file.
  • Once imported, review your content in the Planner and resolve any issues before marking posts as Ready.

Please note: Brand Group and account names must exactly match those in Reveela. Do not add both a Brand Group and individual accounts to the same row. Dates, times and other information should follow the formatting shown in the instructions tab of the template.

Creating More Content

The shortcuts on the right of the Planner give you quick access to other Reveela tools for creating content.

You can use:

  • Generate with AI to create social posts
  • Get Ideas to find new content ideas
  • Content Plan to create a campaign plan

Content created using these tools can then be brought into the Planner, allowing you to organise and manage it alongside your other social media content.
