17.7 Getting Social Media Content Ideas

Reveela's Get Ideas tools help you find inspiration for your social media content, from brainstorming ideas around a topic to finding breaking news and upcoming seasonal events.


The get ideas section includes three options:

  • Generate Ideas – brainstorm social media content ideas around a topic.
  • Trending Opportunities – discover relevant breaking news and create timely posts.
  • Seasonal Dates – find upcoming events and dates to create content around.

Accessing the get ideas tools

To access the get ideas tools:

  • Select Socials from your dashboard.
  • You will be directed to Create.
  • Select Get Ideas from the menu at the top right of the page.

You can also select Get Ideas directly from the Create Post box.

From here, choose Generate Ideas, Trending Opportunities or Seasonal Dates, depending on the type of content inspiration you are looking for.


Generating Content Ideas

The Generate Ideas tool helps you brainstorm different social media content ideas based on a topic and what you want the content to achieve.

To generate ideas:

  • Select Generate Ideas.
  • Select an Intent, such as the type of content you want to create or what you want it to achieve.
  • Enter the topic you want ideas about in What do you want ideas about?
  • If required, select accounts or Brand Groups to help tailor your ideas.
  • Select Get Ideas.

Reveela will generate a list of ideas based on your selections.


Select the ellipsis (...) next to an idea to choose what you want to do with it:

  • Create Post – use the idea to create a social media post now.
  • Generate Similar Ideas – create more ideas based on the selected idea.
  • Add to Planner – save the idea to your Planner so you can create posts from it later.
  • Save Idea – save the idea to the Saved Ideas tab to return to later.

Ideas you choose to save are stored in the Saved Ideas tab, so you can return to them later without adding them to the Planner or creating a post straight away.

To use a saved idea:

  • Select the Saved Ideas tab.
  • Find the idea you want to use.
  • Select the ellipsis (...) next to the idea.
  • Choose the action you want to take with the saved idea.

Finding Trending Opportunities

The Trending Opportunities tool helps you discover breaking and recent news relevant to your business or industry and create timely social media content around it.

To find trending opportunities:

  • Select Trending Opportunities.
  • Enter a Topic/Industry.
  • Add a Niche if you want to make your search more specific.
  • Select a Country.
  • Select Search.

Reveela will display relevant news stories with information to help you decide which opportunities you want to use.


Each story includes a caution level indicating how much care is recommended when creating content from it. Hover over the caution level for more information:

Low – straightforward to discuss.

Medium – check facts and wording.

High – sensitive topic requiring extra review.


To create posts from trending news:

  • Review the news stories and select the articles you want to create content around.
  • Select the accounts or Brand Groups you want to create posts for.
  • Select Create Posts.
  • Reveela will generate posts based on your selected news stories and add them to the Planner.

You can then review and customise the generated posts in the Planner before marking them as Ready.

Previous searches are available under the History tab, allowing you to return to trending opportunities you've searched for before.


Finding Seasonal Content Ideas

Seasonal Dates helps you plan timely social media content around upcoming events and awareness dates. Reveela displays relevant dates for the next three months, helping you spot opportunities to plan content in advance.

To use seasonal dates:

  • Select Seasonal Dates.
  • Browse the upcoming events and awareness dates.
  • Select the ellipsis (...) next to the event you want to use and choose whether you want to generate content ideas or create a social media post based on the event.
  • Review and customise the generated content before using it.
